Playcode has no passwords. You sign in with a code sent to your email, or with Google, GitHub or Microsoft; each one opens the same account when the provider confirms the account's email address. You change the address and manage your devices in **Settings**, **Profile**.

## Do it yourself

### Change your email address

1. Open **Settings**, then **Profile** under **You**.
2. Under **Email**, choose **Change Email**.
3. Type the new address and choose **Send Confirmation Code**.
4. If more than 15 minutes have passed since you signed in, "Confirm it's you" opens first. Type the code Playcode sends to your current address, and choose **Confirm**.
5. The page says "We sent a confirmation code to your new email. Please check your inbox." In the new inbox, open the email "Confirm your new email for Playcode". Its code is 4 words joined by hyphens, like `alpha-beta-gamma-delta`.
6. Type the code and choose **Confirm Email Change**. The new address shows under **Email**.

The confirmation code works for 10 minutes. After the change, a sign-in code goes to the new address, and you stay signed in on your devices.

### See where you are signed in

1. In **Settings**, **Profile**, find **Where you're signed in**. Each device shows when it signed in and when it was last seen; **This device** marks the one you are using.
2. To sign a device out, choose **Sign out** next to it. It is signed out at its next request. Playcode may ask you to confirm it's you first.
3. To sign out every other device, choose **Sign out everywhere else**.

### Sign out here

1. Choose **Sign out** at the bottom of the Settings list, or in the menu under the workspace's name.
2. Your other tabs in this browser sign out too.

## If it doesn't work

### "Users with email ... already exist. Did you sign up using different method?"

Another account already uses that address, maybe one you made with Google, GitHub or Microsoft. An address can belong to one account only. Choose another address.

### "Temporary code is expired or invalid"

The code is older than 10 minutes, or it was mistyped. Choose **Change Email** again to get a new code.

### "Too many wrong codes. Ask for a new code."

After 5 wrong codes, the code stops working. Choose **Change Email** again to get a new code.

### "Too many codes were sent to this address." or "You asked for too many codes."

One address gets at most 5 codes in 60 minutes, and one account can ask for at most 10. Wait the time the message names, then choose **Change Email** again.

### "Your email is invalid"

Check the address for a typo.

### "That code is not right. Check the email and try again."

This is the "Confirm it's you" code. Use the code from the latest email, or choose **Send a new code**.

### The email did not arrive

See [An email did not arrive](/docs/help/email-did-not-arrive).

### You cannot sign in at all

See [I cannot sign in](/docs/help/cannot-sign-in).

## Limits

- A sign-in code has six digits and works for 10 minutes. It ends after 5 wrong tries.
- A device stays signed in for a year after it was last used.
- Changing your email, deleting your account and signing out another device ask you to confirm it's you when your last sign-in or confirmation is more than 15 minutes old. "Once confirmed, the next fifteen minutes ask nothing more."
- There is no page to add or remove Google, GitHub or Microsoft. A sign-in with one of them links it when the provider confirms the account's email address.
- Changing your email does not change the email on your workspace's invoices: see [Invoices and tax ID](/docs/account-and-billing/invoices-and-tax-id).
- The agent cannot change your email or sign you out.
