# Projects and folders

> Find, rename, file, archive and delete projects in the left panel, and how many projects a workspace on the Free plan can keep.

> Ask Playcode's agent: "Rename this project to Bloom Bakery." It renames the project you are in; folders, archiving and deleting stay with you in the left panel.

Your projects are in the left panel under **PROJECTS**, the most recently changed first, with each project's chats under it. Folders group projects, **Archive** holds the projects you put away, and a workspace on the Free plan keeps up to 3 saved projects.

## Do it yourself

### Start and rename a project

1. Choose **New project** at the top of the left panel, or describe a new project on **Home**.
2. To rename a project, point at it in the left panel and choose ⋯ (**More**), or right-click it, then choose **Rename**. Inside a project you can also open **Settings**, **General** and change **Name**.

### File projects in folders

1. Next to **PROJECTS**, choose the new-folder button (**New Folder**), type a name and choose **Create Folder**.
2. Drag a project onto the folder. Or open the project's menu (⋯ or right-click), choose **Move to Folder**, pick the folder and choose **Move**.
3. To take a project out of a folder, drag it onto **PROJECTS**, or choose **No folder (Root)** in **Move to Folder**.
4. To rename or delete a folder, open its menu (⋯ or right-click) and choose **Rename** or **Delete Folder**. Deleting a folder never deletes its projects: they move back to the main list. A folder with projects in it asks you to confirm with **Move to Drafts & Delete**.

### Archive, restore and delete

1. Open the project's menu and choose **Archive**, or drag the project onto **Archive** at the bottom of the left panel. It leaves the list.
2. To bring it back, open **Archive**, open the project's menu and choose **Restore**.
3. To delete a project for good, open **Archive**, open the project's menu and choose **Delete Permanently**. The app warns: "This cannot be undone. Its files, chats and checkpoints go with it." Confirm with **Delete Permanently**.

## If it doesn't work

### "You have 3 saved projects"

The workspace is on the Free plan and holds its limit. The window says "Delete one to keep saving on Free, or go Pro for unlimited projects." Archived projects count too. Choose **Delete** next to a project you no longer need, or upgrade.

### Move to Folder, Archive or Delete is missing

Only the project's creator, or an Admin of its workspace, can file, archive, restore or delete a project. Other people with edit access can rename it and work in it.

### A project is not in the list

Look in **Archive**, under **SHARED WITH ME**, and in your other workspaces: open the workspace menu at the top of the left panel and switch. A project belongs to one workspace.

## Limits

- A workspace on the Free plan keeps up to 3 saved projects, archived projects included. Pro and Max have no limit. Cloud apps have their own limit: see [Browser and Cloud projects](/docs/build/browser-and-cloud-projects). An archived Cloud app does not count toward it.
- Folders are one level deep in the left panel. Folders nested in older versions of Playcode show side by side.
- Folders belong to a workspace. Moving a project to another workspace takes it out of its folder: see [Move a project to another workspace](/docs/build/move-a-project).
- Deleting a project cannot be undone, and it deletes the project's files, chats and checkpoints.
- The agent can rename the project you are working in. Folders, archiving and deleting are for you to do in the left panel.
