Change or cancel your plan

You change or cancel a plan in Stripe's billing portal, and Settings, Billing & plans takes you there. A cancelled plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for; then the workspace moves to Free.

Do it yourself

Switch to another plan

#
  1. Open Settings, then Billing & plans, and choose Switch plan under Current Plan.
  2. The order sheet opens on your plan, marked "This is your plan". Pick the plan, the credits per month, and Monthly or Annual.
  3. Choose the button that starts with "Switch to". On Pro, the button that starts with "Upgrade to Max" goes the same way.
  4. Stripe's billing portal opens. Choose the new plan there, check its price, and confirm. Only you can confirm a change of plan.
  5. Back in Playcode, Billing & plans shows the new plan once Stripe has confirmed it.

Cancel the plan

#
  1. In Billing & plans, choose Cancel subscription.
  2. The window "Before you go - a few options" opens. Pick a reason if you like; it is optional.
  3. Choose Continue in billing portal. Stripe's billing portal opens.
  4. Cancel the plan in the portal. Only you can cancel a plan; the agent cannot.
  5. Back in Playcode, Billing & plans shows "Subscription ends" and the date.

When the plan ends, Playcode turns auto-recharge off, so the card is not charged for credits after that. See Top-ups and auto-recharge.

Keep the plan after all

#

Before the end date:

  1. In a Personal workspace, choose Reactivate Subscription under "Subscription ends". The app says "Subscription reactivated!"
  2. In a team workspace, open the billing portal with Open Billing Portal and renew the plan there.

End the plan today

#
  1. In a Personal workspace, cancel the plan first, as above.
  2. Under "Subscription ends", choose Cancel immediately.
  3. In the window, choose Cancel anyway. The app says "Subscription cancelled immediately".

Paid features end at once, and the rest of the period is not refunded. Playcode then opens its support chat and sends the team a note that you cancelled, with your reason if you picked one.

If a renewal payment fails

#

Stripe emails you, with a link to a Stripe page where you can update the card and pay. It tries the card again up to 4 times within a week. If every try fails, the plan is cancelled.

If it doesn't work

#

"Couldn't open the billing portal. Please try again."

#

Try again. If it still fails, get help from a person.

"Billing is managed by workspace admins"

#

Only the Admins of a workspace can change or cancel its plan. Ask one of them.

"Failed to reactivate"

#

Try again, or renew the plan in the billing portal.

"Failed to cancel"

#

Try again. If it still fails, get help from a person.

The plan did not change after you used the portal

#

Reload Billing & plans. It shows the change once Stripe has confirmed it. If it still shows the old plan, get help from a person.

You think a charge was a mistake

#

The Terms of Service say a subscription charge for the current period is not refunded automatically when you cancel or downgrade. If you believe a charge was made in error, write to ruslan@playcode.io before you dispute it with your bank, and say which workspace and charge. Credits and top-ups are non-refundable.

Limits

#
  • A plan cannot be paused.
  • Reactivate Subscription and Cancel immediately are in the app for a Personal workspace only. A team workspace does both in the billing portal.
  • Cancelling a plan does not delete your account. Deleting your account stops the plan of your Personal workspace from renewing: it keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. See Delete your account.
  • The portal offers the plans Playcode sells today. An older plan cannot be chosen again once you leave it.
  • After the plan ends, Billing & plans still opens the billing portal: Open Billing Portal is above the plans, for the invoices. See Invoices and tax ID.
  • The agent cannot change, cancel or reactivate a plan.
