Make a project private

A private project opens only for you and the people and teams you invited. New projects start private on every plan, Free included. To make a project private again after you shared its link, set Anyone with the link to No access in the project's Share tab. Making a project private does not hide the published site.

Ask the agent

Make this project private - turn off its public link.

It sets Anyone with the link to No access; the people you invited keep their access, and the published site stays public.

Do it yourself

#
  1. Open the project and choose Publish at the top of the editor, then the Share tab. Or open the project menu (☰ and the project name) and choose Share project….
  2. If the project was never saved, choose Save Project first.
  3. Under Access, find Anyone with the link and choose No access.
  4. Check the row: it now says "Only people with access can open the link."
  5. In a team workspace, also check the row Everyone at and the workspace name. Choose No access there to make the project invited-only inside the workspace too: then only you and the people and teams in the list can open it.

If it doesn't work

#

The Access rows cannot be changed

#

Only the project's creator, or an Admin of its workspace, can change them. Everyone else sees the current setting.

A static site you made private is public again

#

Until 2026-10-10, when the creator opened a private static site on the Free plan, Playcode turned its public link back on and said "This project was private but has been made public. Upgrade to Pro to keep projects private." That no longer happens, but a link it turned on stays on. Set Anyone with the link back to No access.

Limits

#
  • A project you create while signed in starts private. To share it by link, set Anyone with the link to Can view.
  • A project you start before you sign in starts public, and it stays public when it is saved to your account. Turn its link off after you sign in.
  • The published site stays public: making a project private hides the project, not the site. To take the site off the internet, see Publish a website.
  • The people and teams you invited keep their access. To remove someone, see Share a project.
  • An invited-only project in a team workspace is hidden from the other members, workspace Admins included.
