Move a project to another workspace
Built your projects before creating a team workspace? You do not have to recreate anything. Move a project and everything travels with it - code, files, AI chats, and history.
Move a project
- Go to your dashboard.
- Right-click the project card.
- Click Move to workspace.
- Choose the destination workspace. A note under the list explains what changes for access.
- Confirm the move.
The menu item appears once you have more than one workspace to move between. If you don't have a team workspace yet, create one first: see Workspaces and teams.
Who can move a project
Only the project owner can move a project, and only into a workspace they are a member of. Your own Personal workspace always qualifies as a destination.
Workspace admins have one extra ability: they can move a member's project out of the team workspace - but only back to that member's Personal workspace, never into a different workspace. A project always stays under its owner's control.
Moving into a team workspace
Members of the destination workspace get access to the project, including its chats and data. In the project's Share tab, the Everyone at [workspace name] row is set to Can edit - the standard default for team projects. If the project should stay tighter than that, change the row to Can view or No access right after the move (see Roles and permissions).
Moving back to your Personal workspace
The project becomes private again: members of the old team workspace lose access. People you invited directly by email keep the access they were granted - remove them from the People list if that should end too.
What travels with the project
- All code and files.
- AI chats and their full history.
- Saved project data and settings.
- The published site - it stays live at the same address.
Two things change alongside access:
- The project leaves its folder, because folders belong to a workspace. Re-file it in the destination if you use folders.
- AI work in the project is billed to the workspace it now lives in - the workspace is the payer, not the individual member.
Do I have to recreate my projects for my team?
No. Create the team workspace, invite your teammates, then move your existing projects in with Move to workspace. Nothing is copied or rebuilt - it is the same project, same history, new home.
