How to change subdomain name
By default, your published website uses a URL based on your project ID (like 8472951.playcode.io). With a Pro account, you can change this to a custom, memorable subdomain name like yourname.playcode.io.
Note: Custom subdomains is a Pro feature. You'll see a purple "PRO" badge next to the subdomain input. Free users will be prompted to upgrade when attempting to set a custom subdomain.
Requirements
- You need a Pro account (paid subscription)
- Your project must be saved and published
- The subdomain name must be unique across all PlayCode users
Steps to change subdomain
- Open your project in the editor
- Click the Publish button at the top right
- In the popup, look for the Custom Subdomain section (you'll see a PRO badge if you're not a Pro user)
- Enter your desired subdomain name in the input field (for example,
demo) - The system will validate if the name is available
- Click the Set subdomain button when it appears
- If the name is available, your website will now be accessible at
demo.playcode.io
Subdomain naming rules
- Must be unique - no other user can have the same subdomain
- Can contain letters, numbers, and hyphens
- Cannot start or end with a hyphen
- Minimum 2 characters long
If your desired name is taken, try variations or add numbers. For example, if demo is taken, try demo-2 or my-demo.
