How to change subdomain name

By default, your published website uses a URL based on your project ID (like 8472951.playcode.io). With a Pro account, you can change this to a custom, memorable subdomain name like yourname.playcode.io.

Note: Custom subdomains is a Pro feature. You'll see a purple "PRO" badge next to the subdomain input. Free users will be prompted to upgrade when attempting to set a custom subdomain.

Requirements

  • You need a Pro account (paid subscription)
  • Your project must be saved and published
  • The subdomain name must be unique across all PlayCode users

Steps to change subdomain

  1. Open your project in the editor
  2. Click the Publish button at the top right
  3. In the popup, look for the Custom Subdomain section (you'll see a PRO badge if you're not a Pro user)
  4. Enter your desired subdomain name in the input field (for example, demo)
  5. The system will validate if the name is available
  6. Click the Set subdomain button when it appears
  7. If the name is available, your website will now be accessible at demo.playcode.io

Subdomain naming rules

  • Must be unique - no other user can have the same subdomain
  • Can contain letters, numbers, and hyphens
  • Cannot start or end with a hyphen
  • Minimum 2 characters long

If your desired name is taken, try variations or add numbers. For example, if demo is taken, try demo-2 or my-demo.
