Choose the Right Model

Playcode offers three AI modes at very different price points. Picking the right one for the task is one of the biggest levers you have on your monthly spend.

Three modes, three prices

• Economy: your cheap, fast default. Handles most of what you do day to day.
• Smart: upgrades to a premium AI model when the task really needs it. Best value for complex work.
• Pro: uses the premium model for everything. Highest quality, highest cost.

Smart and Pro can cost 10 to 20 times more per token than Economy, so you pick them deliberately, not casually.

Economy is your default

Text tweaks, color and spacing adjustments, small bug fixes, a new section here or there. Anything you would describe as "small" should stay on Economy. It handles most of your day-to-day work without breaking a sweat.

If it feels small, stay on Economy. You will be surprised how far it goes before you need to switch.

Smart for the hard parts

Switch to Smart or Pro for the hard stuff:

• Complex interactive components, like image galleries with modal previews or multi-step forms.
• Tricky logic the cheap model would trip over.
• Polish passes on sections you want to feel world-class. Smart mode consistently produces better visual design and fewer mistakes on difficult tasks.

The quality jump is real, and it pays for itself on the right task.

The pro move: switch per task

Experienced users flip modes throughout a session. Do the hard piece on Smart, then switch back to Economy for the small edits around it. That way you get world-class output where it counts and keep the bill sane everywhere else.

How to switch

Use the mode selector button in the chat toolbar at the bottom of the editor. It shows the current mode ("Economy", "Smart", or "Pro") and opens a picker when clicked.
